METADATA & TOOLS
Model
LA-5180 MetaMAX™
Metadata Frame Sync/Generator
The Linear Acoustic Model LA-5180 Audio
Metadata Frame Synchronizer and Generator is an integral part of any
facility relying on the successful creation and continuity of
metadata for proper audio encoding. Useful in digital television
transmission, remote production, and DVD creation environments, the
flexible unit accepts professional audio metadata via a standard
RS-485 serial input, or as delivered inside the VANC space of an
HD-SDI stream. Model LA-5180 allows correction of incoming
errors, re-writing of all parameters and reversion to fully
adjustable internally generated values output via serial and HD-SDI.
Can also be used as a stand-alone generator. Optional AMAS Metadata
Analysis Software provides detailed display and analysis of critical
metadata parameters and user-definable limits for values drives error
indication and logging.
Model LA-5448 Frame Synchronizer and Rate Shaper
Maintaining consistent, error-free AC-3 bitstreams is critical for high quality audio transmission. Bitstreams
delivered from sources outside of the local plant must be synchronized
to local reference, must be free of errors and must be of a consistent
data rate to prevent multiplexer issues. Decoding and re-encoding AC-3
is expensive, degrades audio quality, and is therefore not an option.
The Linear Acoustic Model LA-5448 Frame
Synchronizer and Rate Shaper satisfies these requirements and more, all
without re-coding, and can process up to four separate AC-3
streams in a single rack unit. The Model LA-5448 is ideal for
applications where AC-3 streams are delivered from external sources and
must be multiplexed into a single transport stream. This requires
all streams to be locked to local reference, but also to be free of
errors and most importantly kept at a consistent data rate. As
there is no way to guarantee a fixed data rate from an external source,
it must be handled locally. The unit can also be used in
situations such as commercial insertions where content of varying data
rates needs to be combined into a single consistent output stream.
The Model LA-5448 can be located after a standard routing switcher able to
pass AC-3, and regardless of what stream is selected, the result will be
consistent and error free.
